My first sprite, i need tips please

hey i just made my first pokemon sprite (blastoise and charizard) and i need tips because it looks rubbish

ALWAYS save in .PNG not .BMP. .BMP ruins the quality of the picture. I can remake that for you if you want, and I know you were getting at. Great sprite for a first, you should enter my contest. Here.

I don't see the blastoise Sad. Is it just a recoloring?

I see the blastoise in it. it's alright but it does look like a regular charizard with a recording. probably not the best two to combine.

its the colouring stomach and tail
